The Truth

I'm a compaq tech and I have a few things to say. Presarios really suck... especially the 2200 series. This is because the designers of the computer convinced the execs that they didn't need a fan on the processor just a cardboard tube running from the power supply to the processor. The idea behind this is that the fan cooling the powersupply is enough to cool the processor.

The cost of these cardboard tubes is roughly 30cents per tube not counting the labor to form them. The cost of a cooling fan that would fix the problem and make the PC run great--35cents when compaq purchases them in bulk.

Now I'm not complaining, because I like my job, and I help people when I can, but I also don't care to either snow an eu(end user), give an eu the run around, or outright lie to an eu when the need is there or the eu begins to get verbally abusive.

Oh and the policy for supes isn't that you get to speak with one if you ask. We are supposed to say and I quote, "I'm sorry, but there's not one available at the moment if you like I can forward your information to the first available supervisor and he'll call you back at his earliest convenience."

Oh and most problems are eu errors. They either install third party hard/software and expect us to help them for free or they delete something which they shouldn't delete.

And yes the Compaq Manifesto is compaq policy and I agree with the agent who e-mailed you though I wouldn't have used so harh language that he did in describing the eu as STUPID, though to be honest that is the opinion of about 95% of tech support.

Sincerely yours,
A Tech Agent
