Accidental Death of a Laptop

Do you think that if the Presario Laptop was accidentally knocked off the counter (or 25th story of the building), I could get the insurance money and get a new laptop? (Dell/ Toshiba?) This is my latest idea to solve my problem. Our company purchased a Compaq Presario from CompUSA in Feb 98. It's first visit to the store was in June. Since then, it has been 'in the shop' 5.....6 times now (I lost count) and I have called Compaq tech support over a dozen times. ('It locks up.' To the tune of completely shutting down and removing battery and power cord type 'locking up'. When this does this everytime you try to save a document, thereby being forced to REDO this same document everytime, you get frustrated.)

To date (Jan 99): IT IS STILL IN THE SHOP!!!! I have sent a letter (with all backup, including names of techs) to BOTH presidents of BOTH companies. Can I just get a new computer? Absolutely NOT!!! The motto seems to be (for BOTH companies involved) WHO CAN WE BLAME??? (My thought: if I spend $10000 for a car, I shouldn't have to send the car to Sony if the radio breaks. I take it to the dealer. Fix it! Not with them!) Their response: "It could be........." (It could be the evil genie of laptops who is locking it up, too, but I don't care!!!!!)

I have little patience, but to date, Compaq and CompUSA have lost approximately $50,000 of business that they have had from our company if we hadn't had so many problems with this computer....or better support to
fix it! (I am aiming to raise that amount! It's a personal goal!)
