| In case any poor Compaq users out there
don't realize it yet, the Compaq support forums are a complete waste of time and you might
as well not even bother posting a message unless it is Compaq-friendly. Messages that
voice complaints or point out defects in Compaq products are either not posted or are
posted only briefly and then removed. I know because it happens all the time to my
messages. Even worse, Compaq will effectively lock you out of the site if they decide
you're a trouble-maker. I am no longer allowed to access the site using my regular ISP,
even after registering as a "new user." The only way I'm still able to get on at all now is by using a different ISP account and a different name. I'm careful not to post "negative" messages anymore for fear of being banned from the forum again. The only messages that Compaq allows to be posted and to stay posted are the kind that can be easily solved without suggesting that there's anything wrong with the machine itself. The only way I've found to really help fellow users solve their Compaq problems is by e-mailing my replies to them outside of the support forum (if they happen to include their e-mail addresses in their messages. And no, I will never buy another Compaq. I will build my own computer instead, which I used to do routinely before deciding (foolishly) to save myself all that work by buying a Presario, and I'll use standard parts that are actually supported by their manufacturers -- unlike these Compaq OEM nightmares that no one supports. Kudos and thanks to the creators of this site!! I simply wish I had discovered it before it was too late. |
