| Well after working for a competitor of Compaq and thinking that we had it bad, reading this really lifts my spirits. I've been doing tech support for 5 years now for Packard Bell, who just withdrew there US manufacturing, and now working for a new company (same office and people, just new name). As I sit here at work, reading this site....I'm can't help but laugh at the way Compaq treats everyone. PB
learned their lesson a little too late in the game to make a good turn around, but
towards the end of their life here, we would bend over backwards for consumers (I'm not trying to plug PB or anything) but it does make me realize that somewhere else it's worse!!!! I feel bad for all you guys, and I'm sure there are some of you out there that feel bad for me, but then again, i make nearly twice what Compaq techs make. But it is true, if I got paid less, then I wouldn't give a crap about consumers...and blow them off as fast as possible...but since I don't have a time limit on
calls, I try and fix everything so they don't have to call back. So I guess what I'm saying is, that like PB, Compaq will find it harder and harder to turn profit with a consumer base that hates them. Well I guess we can all wish!!! But now I can safely say I'll never give up my homegrown computer and even look at a Compaq.. well except to laugh at the radio shack guys selling them!!!! |
