NOTHING beats a generic PC. Except for one you build yourself. The only good name brands are Falcon Northwest and Voodoo, and they only make gaming PC's.
For laptops, Voodoo and IBM make the best. For work, IBM. For play, Voodoo.
HOWEVER...like I have said many times before, ALL laptops these days are outsourced, so a whitebox one would also be a good bet (there are only 8 or so companies making laptops in the world.)
A few IBM, Apple, and all Asus laptops are not outsourced, and that's about it.
