Here's a HUGE tip: BE NICE TO YOUR CASE MANAGER!
If you're nice to your case manager and to everyone in case management, you'll see how the whole situation changes course... Instead of bitching and whining and bitching some more, talk to the case manager like YOU could do something for him... tell him that if he/she can get you what you want, you'll contact their supervisor via e-mail, fax, telephone, etc... and tell them how AWESOME your case manager was... even if you don't do this the case manager will like you. (noone ever got something easy by being whiny bitches).
And the final tip: CALL... CALL CALL CALL CALL CALL CALL CALL CALL AND CALL SOME MORE. The more calls you make to get "technical support" for your unit, the more likely it is that you'll get a new unit. Compaq keeps an eye on units which have a lot of tech support calls... the more you call, the more likely it is that someone from Compaq will call YOU and ask you if you'd like a new computer. PLUS, your case manager will have more leverage when the time comes to ask for a new computer for you.
BTW... your case manager is probably some dood in India... His name isn't Charlie... it's Abu Shak Shakanana Laraman Gahjakaya... and he could care less about your threats... unless you tell him you're going to India in two weeks.
