: OH YA--me too! I bought a NEW Quantum Fireball lct 10 10.2GB OEM version from EGGHEAD.COM about 2 years ago I guess. Was very happy with it until recently when I thought my power supply went. Turns out after looking at the controller card on this hard drive I found out that the same Philips chip TDA5247HT has burnt just like alot of other people who have owned a fireball have complained about. I wonder if one can start a class action lawsuit to get compensation for an obvious manufacturing defect where a proper heatsink should have been installed! I can imagine the dollars lost both for the cost of the drive initially plus the cost in lost data! This sucks.
