Yepyep.. Quantum 20GB here has just failed for the same reason. It freaked me out because I just happened to have the case open - and had a whiff of the familiar aroma of burning plastic. Had a look at this faulty drive; sure enough, it was the aforementioned Philips TDA5247HT chip, burnt center-outwards and with two pins charred.Yepyep..
